Diamond Vortex Slot Overview
Diamond Vortex is a space-themed Cluster Pays slot from Play'n GO, released on 20 August 2020. Instead of a standard reel setup you get a hexagonal grid made of three rotating rings with 7 reels and 4 to 7 rows. You need clusters of 6 or more matching symbols to win, and the whole thing spins around a central vortex that builds multipliers.
If I'm honest with chat, the grid layout threw me off at first. It looks mental compared to your usual 5x3 slot. But once you clock how the rings rotate and symbols cascade into new positions, it starts to make sense. RTP sits at 96.20%, volatility is medium-high, and max win caps at 5,000x. Bets run from 0.20 to 100 per spin.

Symbols and Paytable
Paying symbols are space crystals in different colours. You form wins by landing 6 or more identical crystals touching each other in a cluster. Clusters can stretch in any direction across the hex grid, but every symbol in the cluster must be fully adjacent to at least one other. After a cluster hits, those symbols vanish and the rings rotate, dropping new symbols into place for another chance at wins.
Two special symbols appear alongside the crystals. The Core Wild sits permanently at the grid centre for the entire game. Wild Crystals are sticky wilds that land during spins and substitute for any crystal symbol. Then there is the Bonus symbol, which triggers Free Spins when it lands inside a Zone. No traditional card royals here; everything fits the sci-fi gem aesthetic.

Bonus Features and Free Spins
Three main features drive the gameplay. First is Consume: every time a Wild Crystal is on the grid during a winning cluster, it sticks and moves one ring closer to the centre. Once it reaches the Core Wild, it gets absorbed, adding a +1 multiplier that applies to all wins for the rest of that spin. Stacking multiple wilds into the vortex within a single spin sequence is where the real money lives.
Second is Transform. Each ring has a Zone and a Spot. Zones stay fixed; Spots rotate with the ring but reset each new spin. When a Spot lands inside its Zone, every symbol on that ring transforms into the same symbol. If all three Spots hit their Zones at once, all three rings transform simultaneously. That can set up massive clusters.
Landing a Bonus symbol inside a Zone triggers Free Spins, awarding 5 free spins per Bonus in a Zone, up to 15. During free spins, the Core Wild multiplier carries over and keeps growing. Spots also do not reset between spins, which makes Transform much easier to hit. You can re-trigger by landing another Bonus in a Zone. On average it takes roughly 180 spins to trigger the bonus, so patience is needed.

Volatility and Max Win
Medium-high volatility means you will hit dry patches. Not everyone will enjoy that grind, especially since the 5,000x max win feels a bit conservative for this level of variance. Plenty of slots in a similar volatility bracket offer 10,000x or higher. Still, the multiplier mechanic during free spins can stack nicely, and the Transform feature keeps the base game alive with occasional cluster chain reactions.
RTP of 96.20% is perfectly reasonable and sits in the standard range for Play'n GO titles. I would say the real appeal here is the journey, not the ceiling. Sessions tend to be unpredictable because of the rotating rings and cascade mechanic.
