Blue Wizard Slot Overview
Blue Wizard is a magic-themed slot from Quickspin (originally a Playtech title relaunched by Rarestone Gaming in 2019, then picked up by Quickspin to widen coverage). It runs on a 5x3 grid with 30 fixed paylines and bets from 10p up to 100 quid. Released in November 2021, the game has a proper land-based cabinet vibe that I found oddly charming.
Right, so the look is a bit dated compared to newer slots. You get a signpost pointing to a wizard's house in some enchanted woods, ambient sounds, jewel-encrusted royals, the lot. Not exactly cutting edge. But there is something about the tapping sounds when the reels stop and the win celebrations that made me keep going. RTP sits at a decent 96.51% with high volatility, so expect some dry patches between bigger hits.
Symbols and Paytable
Low-value symbols are your standard gold-trimmed 10 through Ace royals, all paying x1.6 for five of a kind. Not thrilling, but they do land fairly often. Mid-range pays include a ring (x2.5), book (x3), cauldron (x4) and an owl at the top with x6 for a full line. Nothing massive there, but they do keep your balance ticking over.
Wilds show the Blue Wizard himself and only land on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. Crucially, they expand to fill the reel if they can help complete a win. The castle emblem is the scatter; land 3, 4 or 5 for a x1, x10 or x50 stake payout plus 6 free spins. Then you have the crystal ball, which is the key to the Fire Blaze Respin feature.
Symbol Payouts
Scatter
Triggers free spins and pays scatter awards of x1, x10 or x50 for 3, 4 or 5 respectively.
Owl
Highest paying regular symbol on the paytable.
Cauldron
Second highest paying regular symbol.
Book
Mid-tier themed symbol.
Ring
Mid-tier themed symbol.
10
Lowest paying royal card symbol.
Free Spins and Fire Blaze Respin
Landing 3 or more scatters gives you 6 Free Spins. Only 6, which feels a bit stingy, I'll be honest. But during free spins, any wild that lands on the middle reel carries a multiplier of x2, x4, x8 or x16. That x16 multiplier wild can produce some proper big hits. You can also retrigger more free spins while the feature is active.
The Fire Blaze Respin feature triggers when 6 or more crystal ball symbols appear, either in the base game or during free spins. Each crystal ball shows a cash value between 1x and 50x your bet, or a star icon. Stars reveal Mini (20x), Minor (100x) or Major (500x) jackpot prizes. You start with 3 respins; every new crystal ball resets that count. Fill every position on the grid and you collect the Grand jackpot worth 2,000x your bet on top of everything else.
Max win overall sits at around x4,217 your stake. Not enormous by today's standards, but decent for a game with this many ways to land a payout. There is no bonus buy option, so you have to grind for those features the old-fashioned way.
Bonus Buy Options
Land 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols to trigger 6 free spins. Wilds on the middle reel carry a multiplier of x2, x4, x8 or x16. Free spins can be retriggered.
Fire Blaze Respin Feature
Triggered when 6 or more crystal ball symbols land. Crystal balls display cash values of 1x to 50x bet or star icons revealing Mini (20x), Minor (100x), Major (500x) or Grand (2,000x) jackpot prizes. Starts with 3 respins that reset on new crystal balls.
RTP, Volatility and Bet Range
RTP is 96.51%, which is above average and fair enough for a high-volatility game. Bets range from 0.10 to 100 per spin, so it covers casual players and bigger spenders alike. High volatility means wins are spaced out, and the base game can drag a bit when nothing is connecting. I would recommend keeping your bet size sensible because those dry runs do come.
