Odin Protector of Realms: Slot Overview
Odin Protector of Realms is a Norse mythology grid slot from Play'n GO, released on 29 July 2021. Rather than using a standard reel set, the game drops 37 symbols onto a hexagonal 4-5-6-7-6-5-4 layout where wins are formed through Cluster Pays. Five or more matching symbols connected adjacently count as a win, and a Cascade mechanic clears winning tiles so new ones can fall in.
What stands out here is the design choice to repurpose much of the framework from Play'n GO's earlier grid slot Honey Rush, then layer a Germanic visual overhaul and a retooled math model on top. Volatility has been lowered to medium (6/10), RTP sits at 96.20% by default, and the maximum win is 5,000x the bet. Stakes run from 0.20 to 100 per spin.

Symbols and Paytable
Eight standard symbols fill the hexagonal grid. Four low-paying rune stones in green, purple, blue and red occupy the bottom tier; a full 35-symbol cluster of any rune pays 100x the bet. Premium icons are a horn, shield, sword and hammer, capable of returning between 250x and 5,000x for a maximum cluster. The hammer sits at the top of the table.
A golden blade acts as the Wild, substituting for every paying symbol. There is no scatter here; the game relies entirely on cluster collection rather than traditional scatter triggers. Compared to the studio's previous work on Honey Rush, the symbol set trades abstract honeycombs for Norse weaponry, which gives the paytable more visual weight even though the underlying structure is similar.

Bonus Features and Odin's Ability
Every winning cluster feeds symbols into the Ring Charge Metre. Collecting 30 symbols triggers the Bronze Forged feature, 70 unlocks Silver Forged, and 120 activates Gold Forged. Each Forged Ring Feature stamps a pattern of identical symbols into the centre of the grid: a minimum of 7 for Bronze, 12 to 19 for Silver, and 20 to 37 for Gold. Multiple features can queue up in a single round if you collect enough symbols quickly.
Odin's Ability provides three random modifiers that fire on non-winning spins. Wisdom upgrades the central symbol to a higher-paying icon or Wild before the Forged feature resolves. Power destroys two random symbol types when you are within five symbols of the next charge level. Glory scatters 2 to 8 Wilds across the grid.
I found the base game can drag a bit between Forged activations, especially since there is no traditional free spins round or bonus buy to shortcut the wait. The modifiers help fill those gaps, but players who prefer a clear bonus trigger may feel the loop is too incremental.

RTP, Volatility and Max Win
Default RTP is 96.20%, though Play'n GO offers operators multiple RTP settings, so always confirm which version your casino runs. Volatility is medium at 6 out of 10, a notable step down from Honey Rush. Maximum win caps at 5,000x, which the provider estimates has roughly a 1-in-4.8-million probability.
For players used to chasing 10,000x or higher, the ceiling here might feel modest. Still, the medium variance means the Forged Ring Feature fires more regularly than it would in a high-volatility build, and that keeps sessions from becoming overly punishing. Not everyone will enjoy this volatility level, but it suits a broader range of bankrolls.
