Charlie Chance and the Curse of Cleopatra Overview
Charlie Chance and the Curse of Cleopatra is the third instalment in Play'n GO's Charlie Chance series, following Charlie Chance in Hell to Pay and Charlie Chance XreelZ. Released on 30 September 2021, the game places its cartoon protagonist inside an Egyptian tomb on a 6x6 Cluster Pays grid. Wins form when five or more matching symbols connect horizontally or vertically, and Cascading Reels remove winners to drop fresh symbols into play.
What stands out here is the design choice to double the grid size from the original 3x3, shifting the series towards a more feature-dense experience. Medium volatility, a default RTP of 96.25% and a 5,500x max win position the slot as accessible rather than extreme. Bets run from 0.20 to 100, so the range covers casual and mid-stakes players alike.

Symbols and Paytable
Lower-value positions on the grid are filled by four hieroglyph symbols depicting water, feathers, a chick and a hook. Premium symbols include colourful purple and turquoise patterns, a blue cat and a green Eye of Horus. Only the highest-value cluster per group pays, so stacking premiums matters more than scattering low-pays across the grid.
Golden scarab beetles act as the wild, substituting for every symbol except the scatter. Cleopatra herself is the scatter; three or more trigger the Free Spins round. A 2x2 Charlie Mega Symbol can also appear on paired reels, clearing adjacent low-pay symbols before transforming into a wild. I found this mechanic genuinely entertaining, though it triggers infrequently enough that you should not build expectations around it.

Bonus Features and Free Spins
Six features drive the gameplay. Cascading Reels remove winning clusters and refill positions from above. Every three consecutive cascades raise the Win Multiplier by 1x, capped at 3x in base play. Three random modifiers can fire on any spin: Flying Scarab Wilds drops 5 to 8 wilds onto the grid; Serpent's Trail sends a snake across the reels to transform or remove symbols on non-winning spins; and Cleo's Columns pairs two reels with identical symbol order, setting up larger clusters.
Landing three scatters awards 8 Free Spins, with 4 extra spins per additional scatter. Each scatter during the round adds 1 spin, up to a ceiling of 150. Crucially, the multiplier does not reset between free spins and can climb to 10x. Cleo's Columns is guaranteed active every spin, and both Serpent's Trail and Flying Scarab Wilds can also appear. Compared to the studio's previous work on this series, the bonus round feels busier but the 5,500x cap means the theoretical ceiling sits well below the 20,000x of Charlie Chance XreelZ.
I think the multiplier cap in base play is where the slot shows its limitations. A 3x ceiling keeps regular sessions fairly tame, and the real action concentrates almost entirely in free spins. Players who prefer steady base-game momentum may find the gap between modes a bit frustrating.

RTP, Volatility and Max Win
Default RTP sits at 96.25%, consistent with the earlier Charlie Chance titles. Medium volatility makes sessions more forgiving than high-variance alternatives, though the 5,500x max win is a clear step down from 6,666x in Charlie Chance in Hell to Pay and 20,000x in Charlie Chance XreelZ. Operators can adjust the RTP, so checking the info panel before playing is advisable.
