Fire In The Hole 3: Slot Overview

Fire in the Hole 3 from Nolimit City is the third trip down this mine, only now it is all iced over and even more packed with stuff. I get a 6-reel setup that starts at 3 rows and can open right out to 6, with up to 46,656 ways to win. The key hook is the collapsing grid mixed with ice-block features, xBomb Wilds, xHole and a chunky Lucky Wagon Spins bonus.

96.05% RTP and extreme volatility tell you straight away what sort of session this is. It is built for swings, big dry spells and the odd proper pop, not a gentle low-stress spin. I had the feeling there is loads to like here, but fair enough, the base game can drag a bit if the mechanics do not wake up.

Theme, Gameplay & Payouts

6 reels, 3 to 6 rows, and wins pay from left to right with 3 to 6 matching symbols. Every collapse unlocks another row until the layout reaches 6x6, so the ways climb from the small opening setup right up to 46,656. Bets run from 0.20 to 100, hit frequency sits at 22.18%, and the top prize is a hefty 70,000x.

Paytable stuff is decent rather than flashy. Royals 10 to A pay up to 1x to 1.5x for six, while the premiums are a cooked chicken, lamp, spiked boots, a gold cart or wheelbarrow, and the whiskey bottle at the top on 7.5x for six. The xBomb Wild covers everything except Bonus symbols, which is handy because the regular symbol values alone are not massive.

Special Features & Slot Mechanics

First, the Collapsing Mine is what keeps the base game alive. Wins remove symbols, fresh ones drop in, and more rows open as the collapse chain keeps going. New collapses can also come from an xBomb Wild explosion, Wild Mining, or xHole, so one spin can turn into a proper messy chain if it catches.

Then you get the main mechanics. xBomb Wilds explode, clear adjacent symbols except Bonus ones, and add their value to the next collapse multiplier. Wild Mining kicks in when 3 to 6 matching symbols line up horizontally or vertically with no win on screen, no active xHole and no active xBomb, then turns that into 1 to 4 Wilds and reveals more of the board.

Ice blocks can hide Wilds, xSplit, win multipliers from 2x to 100x, xHole, Bonus symbols or the 2x2 Max symbol. xSplit doubles other symbols on its reel, while xHole drags in regular paying symbols and throws them back in split sizes from 1 to 3 before forcing another collapse. It is clever stuff, though not everyone will fancy learning all of it for a relaxed ten-minute blast.

Lucky Wagon Spins

3, 4 or 5 Bonus symbols trigger Lucky Wagon Spins with 2, 3 or 4 rows open, and you start with 3 spins. Every time a Coin lands, the counter resets to 3, so it works a bit like a hold-and-win round with more moving parts. If 6 Bonus symbols land, you start with 4 rows open and a guaranteed Persistent Dwarf on the first spin.

The top row drops enhancers, and they activate when a Coin lands below them. You can get Coin values, Multipliers, Dynamite, Persistent Dynamite, Persistent Dwarf, Evil Dwarf and xHole. Evil Dwarf triggers a Golden Spin that reactivates all Coins, while xHole pauses the feature for 3 Frozen Wagon Spins, where the top row only shows Coins and all existing Coins collect those values.

💬 What Players Say
Reviews are strong on the feature depth, expanding grid and bonus round, and most reckon it feels fuller than the earlier games. The usual warning is the same, mate, the volatility is brutal and all the buys and mechanics can feel a bit overwhelming. Based on 6 reviews.
Ryan Cole’s Verdict

Fire In The Hole 3: Slot Verdict

Honestly, I think Fire in the Hole 3 is a proper big session slot. It feels fuller than the earlier games, with more enhancers, more buried stuff in the ice, more buy options and a higher 70,000x top end. When it clicks, it is class to watch, especially once the grid opens up and the bonus starts stacking values everywhere.

Still, I would not call it an easy-going slot. The volatility is brutal, the feature list is a lot to take in, and if you just want something simple while half-chatting with your mates, this may be a bit much. For me, it is well worth the time if I am in the mood for a deeper, high-volatility mining slot and do not mind some rough patches.

Fire in the Hole 3 FAQ
How does the grid work in Fire in the Hole 3?
Each spin starts with 3 active rows on 6 reels. Every collapse adds another row up to 6, taking the game to a 6x6 setup with as many as 46,656 ways to win.
What triggers Lucky Wagon Spins, and what changes with 6 Bonus symbols?
3, 4 or 5 Bonus symbols trigger the feature with 2, 3 or 4 rows open. If 6 Bonus symbols land, you get 4 rows open plus a guaranteed Persistent Dwarf on the first spin.
What does the xBomb Wild actually do?
It works as a Wild for everything except Bonus symbols, then explodes before the next collapse unless Wild Mining is active. The explosion removes adjacent symbols and adds its value to the win multiplier for the next collapse.
Is there a bonus buy, and how much does it cost?
Yes, there are loads of options. The standard buys are 60x, 200x and 500x for Lucky Wagon Spins with 3, 4 or 5 Bonus symbols, plus 240x Lucky Draw, 700x Evil Dwarf Forever, 4,000x Guaranteed Dwarf, 2,350x Dwarf Lucky Draw and 7,000x Golden Nugget.
How do you get the 70,000x max win?
The top prize is tied to the 2x2 Max symbol hidden in ice, and it pays as soon as all the ice is cleared from it. The game also names the full top payout Fire In The Bowl.
