Wilderland Review

Wilderland is a 5x3 fantasy slot from NetEnt with 20 paylines, a moonlit forest backdrop and a proper focus on Walking Wilds. The headline bit is the activation zone, because side-by-side wilds there turn into moving wilds that shift left each spin. I found it easy enough to get into after a few goes, though the rules can feel a bit busy at first.

Wilderland Symbols and Payouts

Across the reels, there are 11 symbols including the wild and scatter. The top regular is the elven princess, then the fox familiar and bow and quiver share the next value down. Lower symbols include the blue staff, a purple flower ring, and four leaf royals. It all fits the enchanted forest look quite nicely, mate.

Regular wilds substitute for everything except the scatter. The scatter can land anywhere, and three or more start the bonus. You can also get special Walking Wild types, including a scatter version, a x2 version and an expanding stacked one, which is where most of the fun comes from.

Wilderland Features

During the base game, the middle row is the activation zone. If two or more wilds land next to each other there, the Forest Treasure feature kicks in and turns them into random Walking Wilds. These then move one reel left on each spin until they leave the reels. It is a neat mechanic, and it gives the base game more life than a plain line slot usually has.

Another extra is the Magic Wild feature. When a stacked Walking Wild leaves reel 1, and there are no more Walking Wilds left on it, those vanished wilds can randomly pop back onto reel 5. It does not happen all the time, but when it does, it gives the round a decent lift.

Triggered by 3 or more scatters or scatter walking wilds. The activation zone expands to all three rows, reel 5 gains a Walking Wild, and the round continues until all wilds are gone.

Wilderland Free Spins

3 or more scatters, or scatter walking wilds, trigger Free Spins. You start with at least six, and during the bonus the activation zone expands from the middle row to all three rows. That makes Walking Wilds much more likely, which is obviously what you want to see.

Reel 5 gets a Walking Wild in the bonus, and with more than three scatters you can also add extra Walking Wilds or x2 wilds. The clever bit is that the feature can keep going while wilds are still on the reels. In theory there is no max limit on free spins, but fair enough, the max win still is not massive.

💬 What Players Say
Reviews like the look and the Walking Wild idea, and most agree it is decent for a chilled session. Main complaint is the low top end, because regular hits still may not get you back to even. Based on 3 reviews.

Wilderland Review Conclusion

Overall, I think Wilderland is a decent pick if you want a relaxed session with a bit of personality. The forest theme is lovely, the music sounds soft and magical, and the Walking Wild setup keeps things interesting even when the slot is not paying loads.

Still, I would not play it for huge-win dreams. The top end is modest, and a few reviews point out that regular hits do not always mean a profitable run. For me, it is more about the ride than the result, and for that, it is not bad at all.

Wilderland FAQ
How does the activation zone work in Wilderland?
In the base game, the activation zone is the middle row. If two or more wilds land side-by-side there, they turn into Walking Wilds and start moving one reel left on each following spin.
What types of Walking Wilds are in the game?
There are four versions mentioned in the reviews: regular Walking Wilds, x2 Walking Wilds, Scatter Walking Wilds, and Expanding Walking Wilds. They only appear through the special feature.
What triggers the free spins bonus round?
You need 3 or more scatters, or scatter walking wilds. The round starts with a minimum of six free spins.
Why can the free spins feature last longer than expected?
Because the bonus continues while Walking Wilds remain on the reels. Once all of them have left the playing field, the feature ends.
What is the max win in Wilderland, and why do some reviews show a lower figure?
The strongest listed top win is 800x. Some review pages mention 240x, but the more reliable game listing gives 800x, so I would go with that figure.
