Durian Dynamite Slot Review
Durian Dynamite is a 5x3, 20-payline fruit slot from Quickspin, released on 9 April 2019. What stands out here is the design choice to take a familiar fruit-machine setup and build the whole game around chain-reaction wilds, rather than around reels, cascades or oversized bonus maths. I see it as a high-volatility release with a clear identity and a niche audience.
Compared to the studio's previous work, this was positioned as its first full 3D slot, and that shift is easy to spot. The cartoon industrial fruit-factory setting, bright colour work and fast pacing give it more character than most fruit-themed games. I think the presentation still holds up, though the base game can feel a bit dry between stronger wild sequences.
Base Game & Features
Gameplay runs on 20 fixed paylines with bets from 0.20 to 100. RTP is 96.22% and volatility is firmly high, rated 5 out of 5 in several reviews, so I would not put this in front of players who want steady hit-rate comfort. This is a slot for sessions where patience matters and feature hits do most of the heavy lifting.
Central to the base game are the red-funnel Dynamite Reels. When a Dynamite Wild lands there, it triggers Dynamite Launch, sending extra Dynamite Wilds from the supply onto the reels. If one hits another Dynamite Wild, both split into extra wilds and can continue the sequence. That mechanic gives the slot its best moments, and it also explains why dead spins are part of the trade-off.
Theme
Symbols mix standard card ranks from A to 10 with cherries, grapes, plums, oranges and watermelon. Watermelon is the top regular symbol and pays x25 for five on a line, while the durian wild pays x50 for five. Regular wilds can appear on all reels, and the durian is the visual centrepiece from both a paytable and feature perspective.
I like the way Quickspin avoided a flat retro fruit look. The 3D rendering, animated pipes and factory framing make the reels feel more active than the paytable itself suggests. The soundtrack is usually described as light, funky and upbeat, which fits the style well. I'm not entirely sold on the durian theme itself, but the production work gives it enough personality.

Durian Dynamite Free Spins & Bonus Features
Three Bonus Jar scatters trigger Free Spins, starting with 6 spins. Before the round begins, you enter the Bonus Picker, which grants between 3 and 6 picks. Those picks can add extra free spins, extra durians for the wild feature, or more active Dynamite Reels. In practical terms, that means the bonus can be shaped towards duration or towards more aggressive wild activity.
The upgrade options are fairly clear. Extra free spins can add up to 30 more, for a maximum of 36. Durian Ammo, also described in some reviews as Dynamite Supply, can add up to 2 extra durians. Dynamite Reels can increase to 3 active reels. During free spins, Dynamite Wilds land more often than in the base game, so the whole round feels like an enhanced version of the core mechanic rather than a separate mode.
One limitation is that free spins do not re-trigger. I think that was deliberate, because the design choice to front-load bonus variety into the picker gives the round its structure. Some players will like that agency. Others may feel the feature ends too abruptly if the upgrades do not line up with enough wild chains.
