Mole Digger Slot Overview

Mole Digger is a mining-themed slot from Play'n GO played on a 5x4 grid with 25 paylines. Instead of the usual bearded bloke in overalls, you get a cute bespectacled mole in yellow gloves doing the digging. Proper adorable, honestly. Bets run from 0.10 up to 100, volatility sits at medium-high, and the top RTP is 96.20%. Max win goes up to 10,000x your stake.

I'd describe the vibe as cheerful and cosy rather than intense. You're down in a mine shaft with tools, tracks, dynamite, and gems scattered about. Jaunty twangy music plays in the background. Three collection pots sit above the reels for the bonus round, which is the main attraction here. It looks decent enough, but outside the mole character, the setting is pretty standard mining fare.

Symbols and Paytable

Low pays are your typical J, Q, K, and A royals, worth 1x to 3x the bet for five of a kind. Not thrilling, but they keep the reels ticking over. High-paying symbols are rope, hammer, shovel, and pickaxe, paying between 4x and 8x for a full line of five. The pickaxe is the best regular symbol on the board.

Wilds show the mole himself and substitute for all regular symbols except gems. Gold gems carry instant cash values that the Mine Cart can collect. Green, red, and blue gems act as scatters, each filling a specific pot above the reels. There is also a special tri-coloured gem that triggers the bonus with guaranteed enhancements.

Bonus Features and Mechanics

Two main features drive the action here. The Mine Cart Cash Collect can appear on any base game spin, with one to five carts rolling along the track beneath the reels. If a cart stops under a reel showing gold gem cash values, those values get collected and paid out instantly. Nice little surprise that keeps the base game from going completely flat.

The bigger event is the Hold'n Win bonus. You trigger it by landing six or more gems at once, by filling one of the three feature pots through gem collection, or by landing the special gem symbol. You start with 3 re-spins, and any new gem resets the counter. Depending on which pots are active, you get up to three modifiers working together: Boost (green gem increases cash values by 1x to 10x), Mystery (red gem reveals prizes from 10x to 500x), and Collect (blue gem scoops up all cash values on the grid).

Four Cash Pots can drop during Hold'n Win: Mini at 15x, Minor at 25x, Major at 50x, and Grand at 500x. You get the Grand by filling every position on the grid. Sounds exciting on paper, but the pot values are not massive, and the bonus itself can feel a bit familiar if you have played other three-pot slots recently.

Bonus Buy Options

Volatility, RTP and Max Win

RTP tops out at 96.20%, which is proper average for a modern slot. Watch out though, because operators can pick from five RTP variants going all the way down to 84.20%. Always worth checking which version your casino runs before you commit. Volatility is medium-high, so expect quieter stretches between bigger hits.

Max win is 10,000x your bet. Getting there would probably need a fully loaded Hold'n Win round with all three modifiers firing and some generous red gem reveals. Realistic? Maybe on a good day. There is no bonus buy option either, as Play'n GO still does not offer that, so you are relying on natural triggers every time.

Ryan Cole’s Verdict

Final Verdict on Mole Digger

Mole Digger is a perfectly fine slot for a relaxed session. The mole character is genuinely charming, the Mine Cart adds a bit of base game excitement, and having three modifiers stack in the bonus round sounds decent on paper. For a casual spin with some cosy vibes, it does the job.

Honestly though, I am not entirely sold on the whole package. The mining theme has been done to death, the Hold'n Win mechanic does not feel fresh, and the Cash Pot values are modest. If you have played other three-pot slots from the last couple of years, you will recognise almost everything here. Mate, it is not bad by any means, but do not go in expecting something that will blow your socks off. Fair enough for a quiet session; just do not expect fireworks.

Mole Digger FAQ
How do you trigger the Hold'n Win bonus in Mole Digger?
You can trigger it three ways: land six or more gem symbols on one spin, fill any of the three feature pots by collecting green, red, or blue gems over multiple spins, or land the special tri-coloured gem which guarantees entry with one to three enhancements active.
What do the three gem colours do during the Hold'n Win round?
Green gems boost all cash values on the grid by 1x to 10x. Red gems reveal higher prizes worth 10x to 500x. Blue gems collect all cash values currently in view. You can have one, two, or all three active depending on which pots were filled.
How does the Mine Cart feature work in the base game?
On any base game spin, one to five Mine Carts can appear on the track below the reels. If a cart stops beneath a reel that has gold gems with cash values, those values are collected and paid out immediately. The carts do not appear during Hold'n Win.
Is there a bonus buy option in Mole Digger?
No. Play'n GO does not include a bonus buy feature in their slots, so you have to trigger Hold'n Win naturally through gem landings or pot collection.
How do you win the Grand Cash Pot?
You win the 500x Grand Cash Pot by filling every position on the entire 5x4 grid with gem symbols during the Hold'n Win round. The other pots are Mini at 15x, Minor at 25x, and Major at 50x.
