Mythic Maiden Slot - A Touch Of Black Magic To Find Your Wins
Mythic, spooky and a bit old-school, Mythic Maiden is a horror slot from NetEnt with 5 reels, 3 rows and 30 fixed paylines. I get a creepy crypt or attic feel from it, with shrunken heads, skulls, spellbooks and that gloomy background music doing most of the heavy lifting.
Released back in 2011, it still has a decent little hook. The base game has a Full Moon Wild that triples wins it helps complete, while the main pull is the Free Spins round with the Iron Maiden sarcophagus handing out multipliers and extra spins. The listed RTP is 96.58%, and the max win I am using here is 2100x.
What symbols are there?
Symbols lean hard into the spooky theme, which I quite like. The shrunken head is the top regular symbol and pays 66.6x for five on a payline, with the vampire skull behind it at 33.3x. The book of spells pays 16.6x, the spider pays 6.66x, and the chest pays 5x for five.
Candle-style royals fill the lower end, paying between 4.1x and 2.3x for five. Wins usually need 3 to 5 matching symbols left to right, though the shrunken head can pay from 2. The Full Moon Wild substitutes for regular symbols, and the Circle of Light Scatter is what you want for the bonus.
Symbol Payouts
What are the bonus features?
Free spins start when 3 or more Circle of Light Scatter symbols land anywhere on the reels. You get 10, 15 or 30 Free Spins for 3, 4 or 5 scatters, which is fair enough and easy to understand. During the round, the sarcophagus beside the reels opens and can award something useful after a spin.
Expect random multipliers from 2x to 10x, plus 1 or 2 extra free spins when the Iron Maiden feature kicks in. Scatters can also re-trigger the round. Best bit is that the bonus multiplier can work with the 3x wild multiplier, so a wild win in free spins has much better bite than a normal base-game hit.
Bonus Buy Options
Triggered by 3 or more scatters, awarding 10, 15 or 30 free spins for 3, 4 or 5 scatters. During the feature, the sarcophagus can award a 2x to 10x multiplier or 1 to 2 extra free spins, and the round can re-trigger with 3 or more scatters.
During free spins, the sarcophagus to the side of the reels may open after a spin and award extra spins or a multiplier up to 10x.
Ryan Cole’s Verdict
Verdict
Verdict from me, Mythic Maiden is a decent pick for a relaxed horror-themed session rather than a flashy modern feature hunt. The 3x wilds keep the base game from feeling totally flat, and the free spins can run longer than expected when the sarcophagus throws in extra spins.
I am not fully sold on the base game, mate. It can drag a bit, and there is not much going on outside wild wins and waiting for scatters. Still, with 96.58% RTP, low-ish volatility and a proper creepy mood, I would give it a spin on a rainy night, especially if I wanted something slower and not too brutal.
